Client: Smith Bros (William Stobart Group)
Smith Bros, part of the William Stobart Group, were opening a brand new showroom in Warrington and wanted a launch weekend that gave customers a reason to come down, stay a while and spend time with the trucks and the team. Something that worked for a trade open day and for families on the Sunday.
We built our track in the middle of the showroom floor, running alongside a row of Scania trucks including their flagship motor 'Delilah'. The set-up was dressed in Smith Bros and A.W. Jenkinson branding with scale model trucks on track, our race control screen running free practice, and a Smith Bros prize wheel alongside so every race had something riding on it.
Three days, three different audiences, and a lap counter that never stopped climbing. Friday and Saturday ran 9am to 4pm for trade visitors and customers, Sunday opened 10am to 4pm as the showroom welcomed families. Guests raced in free practice, kept coming back to chase their own best lap, and the prize wheel kept the queue moving between races. By the close of play the counter read 1,538 laps on Friday, 4,218 by the end of Saturday and 6,254 by Sunday afternoon. Dave set the fastest lap of the weekend at 5.840s, with Mark second on 5.920s and Callum third on 6.020s.
