The Brief

What They Wanted

Tri-Tech Surveys wanted to pull visitors onto their stand at Highways 2026 at the NEC and give the team an opening to talk about their new surveying equipment and the full spread of survey services they offer. Rather than a standard hire setup, they wanted something built specifically for the stand — a bespoke 2m × 1.5m layout, built on their terms.

Our Scalextric Setup

What We Supplied

We designed and built a bespoke 2m × 1.5m circuit for the stand table, finished with black skirting and landscaped to look like real ground: grass banks, wildflowers, trees, stone walls, a gravel staging area and even a duck pond with two ducks. 3D-printed miniature buildings stood in for the places Tri-Tech survey — a Tri-Tech Survey Hub shopfront and a Tri-Tech Surveys office frontage among them — with a 3D-printed Tri-Tech sign set into the grass bank, roadside crash barriers, traffic cones, a mini skip and a speed camera on the curve. The centrepiece was a 1/32 scale replica of Tri-Tech's own mobile mapping vehicle, liveried white with the Tri-Tech name and a survey camera rig on the roof, running the circuit alongside the other cars. A screen at the back of the table showed live qualifying results and pole position times.

The Racing

What Happened

The track ran for the duration of the show, drawing visitors in from the aisle and giving the Tri-Tech team a natural start to every conversation. The miniature world did the explaining: survey hub, survey vehicles, roadside detail — all of it mirroring what Tri-Tech actually do, and tying the stand graphics to the new equipment on display. The stand ran its own Road Survey Competition throughout — a top-10 leaderboard ranked by laps completed, ties broken by fastest lap, with a screen at the back of the table showing qualifying results and pole position times.

By the close, 1,487 laps had been run on the miniature circuit. Jonny R (Roomex) won it on 9 laps, ahead of Jules T and Rob K (JRM), while Katie (NH) set the single fastest lap of the show at 4.970s. A stand with a reason for people to stop — the replica mobile mapping car and the detail-laden miniature world turned a busy exhibition aisle into a queue of people wanting a go, and gave Tri-Tech a talking point that connected their branding, their new kit and their services in one go.
